Terms of Use

These terms apply when you use Jacksonville Residents Directory. By using the private reference, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Service Description

Jacksonville Residents Directory is a privately operated reference that describes and links to Jacksonville, Onslow County, and North Carolina record indexes, rolls, and directory collections. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with a custodian, court, office, or library.

2. Permitted Use

Use the reference only for lawful purposes. You may not use it or information reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or harm any person.
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order.
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, or another unlawful act.
  • Make FCRA-regulated credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the content at scale.
  • Interfere with the security or operation of the service.

3. Consumer Reporting Notice

Jacksonville Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Nothing here or in a linked search tool is a consumer report. It may not be used to evaluate eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-regulated purpose.

4. External Services

Government portals and other linked services, including sponsored tools, have their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control their content, availability, prices, or data handling.

5. No Warranty

The reference is offered “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, currency, portal availability, or any result returned by an outside resource.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or other damages arising from use of this reference or a linked resource, including decisions based on information found through them.

7. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operators from claims or demands, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to pages and quoting brief, attributed excerpts is welcome. Republishing full pages or systematically copying the material is not permitted.

9. Term Updates

We may revise these terms by posting a replacement here. Continued use after posting means that you accept the revised terms.

10. Access Restrictions

We may limit or block access, without notice, when a user violates these terms or abuses the service.

11. Governing Law

North Carolina law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Relevant government-record access is governed by the North Carolina Public Records Law, including N.C. Gen. Stat. §§ 132-1 and 132-6, but that statute does not make this private service a public-records custodian.

12. Severability

If a portion of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
